AM6 Socket Roadmap Rumors — When AMD Next Pad Lands
AM5 platform support through 2027 is confirmed. AM6 sliding to 2028 with DDR6 and PCIe 6.0 as the headline features.
Multiple supply-chain leaks now line up on the AM6 socket window: 2028, with DDR6 and PCIe 6.0 as the headline features. AM5 support is officially extended through 2027, which buys current builders a clean two-year runway.
The DDR6 base spec lands at 8800MT/s with a 12000MT/s OC ceiling. That is real bandwidth headroom for the 2028 GPU generation, and it is also where AMD finally reclaims the memory-controller efficiency lead that Intel has held for two cycles.
PCIe 6.0 matters more for storage than for GPUs. Gen6 SSDs at 24GB/s sequential are already on the JEDEC roadmap, and the AM6 chipset is the cleanest consumer landing point for them.
